PH & Louis Poulsen began their 1925-1926 partnership w/ his first design for a Paris expo. PH's system, lasting until his 1967 death, provided glare-free, direct light & soft shadows. The 3/2 Academy (1 of 30 3-shade lights, 3 outdoor models) features shades w/ even light distribution & glass diffusing to reduce glare & shadows. The 2/2 lower shades are for lower hanging. Released in 2000.

Light concept
The fixture is designed based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs the majority of the light downwards. The shades are made of mouth-blown opal three-layer glass, which is glossy on top and sandblasted matt on the underside, giving a soft and diffused light distribution.
