A sculptor and metalworker, Bertoia was encouraged by Florence Knoll to apply his talent towards a unique furniture collection for Knoll—and created a groundbreaking suite of seating, including the Bertoia Side Chair. A merging of sculpture and product design, the Bertoia Side Chair features the collection’s signature grid of gently curved chrome, a welded metal webbing that holds the human form comfortably and ingeniously. The Knoll Bertoia Side Chair, like the entire Bertoia wire collection, remains a modern furniture icon, an illustration of timeless form and functionality.
